Community Awareness & Emergency Response - program developed by the Chemical Manufacturers Association.   Guidance for chemical plant managers to assist in taking the initiative in cooperating with local communities to    develop integrated hazardous materials response plans.

Chemical Emergency Preparedness & Prevention - the EPA office tasked with helping to prevent & prepare for  chemical emergencies, responding to environmental crises, and informing the public about chemical hazards in their community.

Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation & Liability Act - covers hazardous substance releases into the environment and the cleanup of inactive hazardous waste disposal sites.

Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act (SARA Title III) - Specifies requirements for organizing the planning process at the state and local levels for specified extremely hazardous substances; minimum plan content; requirements for fixed facility owners & operators to inform officials about extremely hazardous substances present in their facilities; and mechanisms for making information about extremely hazardous substances available to the public.

LEPC/SERC Net - This site was developed to help emergency planners and the public implement the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA). It showcases LEPC/SERC homepages, provides access to EPA information, and provides a discussion forum (conference) for users to address current issues related to emergency planning and community right-to-know at the local level.

Resource Conservation & Recovery Act - directed by the EPA to identify hazardous wastes, both generically and by specific wastes and industrial process waste streams. Owners and operators of treatment, storage and disposal facilities must comply with standards which are implemented through permits issued by the State or EPA.

The Right to Know Network - provides free access to numerous databases, text files, and conferences on the environment, housing, and sustainable development. With the information available on RTK NET, you can identify specific factories and their environmental effects; analyze reinvestment by banks in their communities; and assess people and communities affected.

TRANSCAER - (TRANSportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response) is a nationwide community outreach program. It addresses community concerns about the transportation of hazardous materials through planning and cooperation. The program provides assistance for communities to develop and evaluate their emergency response plan for hazardous material transportation incidents.
