Real Estate Tax

The office maintains real estate assessment cards and maps, updating them from information recorded in the Pittsylvania County Circuit Court Clerk's office.  The tax assessment is 100% fair market value.  The County conducts a general reassessment every four years, in which a firm is awarded a contract to appraise all Real Estate.  The most recent general reassessment was completed on January 1, 2006.  The tax rate for Real Estate is applied per $100 of assessed value.  The Board of Supervisors sets the rate by June 30th of the current year.
