The office maintains real estate
assessment cards and maps, updating them from information recorded in the
Pittsylvania County Circuit Court Clerk's office. The tax assessment is
100% fair market value. The County conducts a general reassessment every
four years, in which a firm is awarded a contract to appraise all Real
Estate. The most recent general reassessment was completed on January 1,
2006. The tax rate for Real Estate is applied per $100 of assessed value.
The Board of Supervisors sets the rate by June 30th of the current year.
