Participation in sports programs is very valuable to the development of children.  Aspects of teamwork, dedication, discipline, physical fitness, self-esteem and fair play all contribute to the overall growth and maturation of young people.  Pittsylvania County Parks and Recreation takes this responsibility seriously and strives to offer quality athletics programs that aid in the development of the youth of Pittsylvania County.

The department is also proud to offer various bus and train trips throughout the year to tourist attractions along the east coast.  This service is offered to families to provide a different type of recreation to those who like to travel.  So let us do the driving for you and you can relax and enjoy the trip!

Youth sports and trips are the cornerstone of the department today.  As our department grows, so to will the diversity of the programs we offer.

Online Youth Football & Cheerleading Registrations

County football and cheerleading registrations for ages 6-13 can be done online in Pittsylvania County for the Tunstall, Chatham, Dan River and Gretna districts.  Fall sports registrations run May 1-June 1.

Citizens without internet access can still register by attending their local clubs on-site registration or completing an athletic registration form (see link below) and returning it, along with payment, to the Parks and Recreation office in Chatham or to the club in their area. If payment is made by check, the check should be made out to the recreation club the child is registering for.

Note: Due to limited spaces available, Tunstall Cheerleading Registrations are onsite only, no internet registrations. Registration fee of $150 if a uniform is needed or $35 if child already has uniform is due at the time of registration.
