Participation in sports programs is very valuable to the development of children.  Aspects of teamwork, dedication, discipline, physical fitness, self-esteem and fair play all contribute to the overall growth and maturation of young people.  Pittsylvania County Parks and Recreation takes this responsibility seriously and strives to offer quality athletics programs that aid in the development of the youth of Pittsylvania County.

The department is also proud to offer various bus and train trips throughout the year to tourist attractions along the east coast.  This service is offered to families to provide a different type of recreation to those who like to travel.  So let us do the driving for you and you can relax and enjoy the trip!

Youth sports and trips are the cornerstone of the department today.  As our department grows, so to will the diversity of the programs we offer.

Online Youth Football and Cheerleading Registrations

County football and cheerleading online registrations for ages 6-13 (for football, 6 year olds are a rec club decision) will run May 1-31.  Those clubs include Tunstall, Chatham, Dan River and Gretna.  Online registrations will help supplement on-site registrations.  Click on the "Register" button below to get started. Contact information for each rec club is available on the youth sport page above.

Citizens without internet access can still register by attending their local clubs on-site registration or completing an athletic registration form (see link below) and returning it, along with payment, to the Parks and Recreation office in Chatham or to the club in their area. If payment is made by check, the check should be made out to the recreation club the child is registering for.

Click below to register:

STOP - Before you register for football, know that allowing 6 year olds to play is a rec club board decision. Any 6 year olds that do play must be first quarter only players.  Because of this, you must check with your club and register onsite (see below) and not online. Some clubs do not allow 6 year olds to play football. You cannot register 6 year olds for football online. This does not apply to cheeleading since it is not a collision sport.
